AFRICAN ASSOCIATIONS-IBO UNION SOCCER FESTIVAL-2007
HONORING THE LATE GABRIEL BESONG – AFRISCOPE COACH
INVITATION TO A BAY AREA SOCCER FESTIVAL AND TOURNAMENT:
DATE: MAY 26, 2007, 9:00 a.m. – 5 p.m.
LOCATION: Newark Sporting Fields, 6800 Mowry Ave, Newark
California 94560.
COST: $250 per Team
REGISTRATION DEADLINE: April 30, 2007. ( first come, first
serve for 12 teams)
The African Associations and Ibo Union of Northern
California, cordially invite you to the 2007 Tournament, Festival and
cultural exhibition. This event will showcase African youths in the display
of their talent and soccer artistry.
The goal is to invite teams from all groups, irrespective of
ethnicity, race, national origin or religion to participate in a friendly
atmosphere in order to foster better understanding and friendship among
people.
Teams and players are encouraged to bring their Families for
a fun day of socials, games and relaxation. Enjoy the exotic and diverse
African dishes. The Tournament and festival will conclude with a gala event
where we have the opportunity to meet and get introduced to one another.
The tournament will be supported by individuals and
organizations.
Teams are encouraged to commit and register early, which
means a team confirmation letter and registration fee, to avoid any
disappointment.
Tournament Format:
8-Team Format:
- - There will be 2 groups, each with 4 teams.
- - Each group will play round robin.
- - Winner of each group will play for the final.
- - Runners up of each group will play for the third spot.
- - Each team is guaranteed a minimum of 3 games.
Tournament Format:
12-Team Format:
-There will be 4 groups, each with 3 teams.
-Each group will play round robin.
-Winner of group A will play the winner of group C in the
next round.
-Winner of group B will play the winner of group D in the
next round.
-Winner of A v/s C will play the winner of B v/s D in the
final
-Each team is guaranteed a minimum of 2 games.
Adjustments will be made as appropriate if more teams
register. We ask that you endeavor to commit and participate. We will do our
best to make it worth your while. We look forward to a letter from you
confirming your participation. Provide the name of your team and use the
below address for your reply.
EACH PLAYER WILL BE AWARDED A "MEDAL" FOR PARTICIPATION
THE WINNING TEAM WILL BE AWARDED THE 2007 CHAMPION’S CUP
